Captek™

High Precision is proud to offer Captek™, a highly esthetic restoration that looks, feels and functions like a natural tooth. Due to Captek's™ gold copings, which are a yellow-orange color, they offer exceptional esthetics. This underlying warmth is the perfect natural color background for our highly talented ceramists to use when enhancing a restoration's esthetics. Captek™ crowns result in less gingivitis and tissue recession due to their composite metal structure. This innovative structure produces a micro-electrical bi-polar stimulation which positively stimulates tissue cells around the crown. The margins around these restorations have also been known to experience less bacterial accumulation than natural teeth or alternative all-ceramic or metal-based options. Captek™ has an exclusive structure that is shock absorbing and protects the supporting bone, which greatly increases the longevity of these restorations.

Features:

  • Plaque and Bacteria-Resistant
  • Biocompatible
  • Lifelike Esthetics
Full Cast

Captek can be used for all single unit crowns and bridges with up to 2 pontics. Captek can be used when reduction of the tooth may be limited. Captek can be used when periodontal health is a concern and when biocompatibility is a concern.

Captek should not be used when a tooth preparation is not built back up to preparation form or there is over 3 millimeters of clearance. Captek should not be used when adapting to a future or existing partial, or when a metal occlusal is prescribed.

The ideal preparation for PFMs is a chamfer margin preparation. If a porcelain labial margin is prescribed, then a shoulder margin preparation of 1.25 mm is required. Anterior: 2 mm incisal reduction, 1.5 mm middle third reduction, ensuring preparation is cut into three planes and that labial and lingual walls are convergent. Posterior: 2 mm occlusal reduction; 1.5 mm middle third reduction; 1.25 mm gingival reduction on the buccal; buccal and lingual walls must be convergent. Feather-edge margin preparations are indicated for full-cast restorations.

Panavia 21 (Must be tinplated)

Resin Ionomer cement (RelyX, 3M ESPE)

We use capillary attraction forces to create the Captek copings. It is the only way to combine the hard, thermally stable particles of platinum/palladium and the resilient, vibration absorbing, esthetic enhancing particles of the high purity gold without sacrificing strength. If we were to take gold, platinum and palladium in similar amounts and melt them together similar to traditional casting methods we would have a soft, weak, silver unstable coping. Just like the way the water and sponge exist, the gold and platinum/palladium exist. We have created an “alloy composite”. Captek is strong (in a sense reinforced), high gold and high temperature stable for accurate margins during porcelain firings. If an adjustment is required on the ceramic, use a fine diamond with water and air to keep the crown cool. To contour the ceramic, polish with a pink rubber wheel and diamond polishing paste (Brasseler, Shofu, Vident).
